Serenity

Syosset, New York

This private residence in a gated community illustrates the importance of having your landscape architect involved early in designing and siting your new home.

Challenges of the beautiful two-acre site include restrictions of conservation and drainage easements and the presence of a majestic estate tree that lends a timeless grandeur to the property. By bringing our team in early, we were able to advise on the proper siting of the home to achieve all the clients’ wish list items.

Collaborating with the architect and civil engineer from the outset allowed Bayview to help site the home on horizontal and vertical planes. A level front yard makes parking easy, and topography changes in the rear yard add visual interest to the landscape. The outdoor oasis is centered on the front door of the home so that the backyard amenities are immediately revealed when you enter the home.

A relaxing entertainment paradise with a pool, cabana, cooking, and fire lounge is located one step out of the residence for convenience and flow. An infinity drop on the pool's far end draws the eye toward the wooded property beyond. Fire bowls flank the pool's end and reinforce the water's sound and movement. The hardscape materials highlight the architectural features of the home.
