Elements

Oyster Bay Cove, New York

The design for Elements calls upon the senses to engage with the natural and built environments. Fire and water come together to create drama and serenity: a uniquely calming experience.

Our clients sought an outdoor oasis that would enable them to disconnect from the hectic world beyond their property and enjoy the serenity that Oyster Bay Cove has to offer. A lush backdrop of giant cedars provides dense screening between the pool and the driveway. This wall of greenery is accented by a fire trough running along a cascading waterfall. The sight, smell, and warmth of the fire complements the soothing sound of rushing water steadily trickling into the pool.

The stone in the fire and water elements mirrors the traditional Hamptons-style architecture of the main dwelling, complementing and emphasizing the beauty of each. Our clients and their guests can soak up the sun on the travertine terrace, which remains cool on the feet all day long, or enjoy the shade and a cold drink at the covered outdoor kitchen and bar, complete with TV, music speakers, and ceiling fans. Evening cocktails are best enjoyed around the satellite fire pit lounge, located through a short hydrangea-lined walk over river rock stepping stones.

As the sun sets, the extensive outdoor lighting beautifully illuminates the space through a combination of ground lighting, which uplights special landscape accents, and moonlighting that casts a broad glow and natural shadows across the larger lawn areas.
