Rough Sawn
Manhasset, New York
Working with a client over many years to execute their vision for their property speaks to Bayview’s exceptional service. After designing a sunken fire lounge, pool area, and outdoor kitchen over multiple phases, Bayview returned to the home to give the front yard a design treatment just as calming as the backyard.

The front yard features a granite retaining wall, an extensive system of catch basins, piping, and dry wells to better manage stormwater. This solution resolved the home’s water issues and improved the approach to the front door with a beautifully designed garden courtyard, achieving a perfect balance of form and function.
In the back yard, the property features a sunken fire lounge, offering a cozy, secluded atmosphere just steps from the pool. Granite seating walls encircle the area, providing additional seating when the sectional couch around the fire pit is fully occupied. For entertainment, guests can choose between sitting by the fire or using the granite and bluestone raised bar for movie or game nights.
The classic rough-sawn cedar pergola enhances the sense of intimacy over the fire pit while preserving the view of the night sky. The success of the sunken lounge is in part due to meticulous attention to stormwater management.
