Successful design is a collaboration between a client with dreams and a landscape architect with vision.

That means taking the time to get to know you and how the outdoors can improve quality of life, whether it’s for your family or your community.

Aside from creating beautiful and unique outdoor spaces, Bayview’s #1 goal is to deliver a more enjoyable experience. That starts with transparency. We want you to know what to expect at every single point in the process.

Meet the Team

Greg Marett, ASLA, PLA
Founder, Landscape Architect

  • After 25 years in the industry, Greg considers himself a steward of the land and he takes that responsibility very seriously. Whether for a family or a community, landscape architecture can have a huge impact on people's day to day lives and when executed properly, create a sustainable environment for decades to come. Greg is equally comfortable redesigning affordable housing campuses, streetscapes and playgrounds as he is private outdoor oases for his residential clients. He has earned a legion of loyal clients through a combination of creative functional design, attention to detail, innovative use of materials, and the ability to listen and respond to client’s needs and goals.

Greg graduated from Cornell University’s Landscape Architecture program with honors, during which time he spent four months studying the great landscapes and architecture of Europe while at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. He holds membership in the Long Island Nursery and Landscape Association (LINLA), New York State Nursery and Landscape Association (NYSNLA) and is an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) New York Chapter. When not at work, you can find him in the kitchen or standing over a barbecue experimenting with a wide range of culinary delights.

Gerrit Goss, ASLA, PLA
Senior Landscape Architect

  • Gerrit brings a holistic approach to his projects, applying the experience he’s gained from his work throughout the United States. His plant knowledge ranges from tropical to Mediterranean to Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern plants. He works with his clients to find the balance between function and beauty while solving challenging site conditions with ease.

Gerrit’s interest in landscape architecture blossomed while studying Italian Renaissance gardens for his Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Rollins College. From there, he went on to earn a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Virginia, perfectly mixing his passions for art and nature.

When not managing projects for Bayview, you can find Gerrit painting, surfing, and - you guessed it - gardening!

Mackenzie Gilvey
Landscape Designer

  • With each new project, Mackenzie’s goal is to design a landscape that reflects the personalities of those that occupy it. Landscape architecture is a lifelong interest for her, beginning with with botany before embracing landscape architecture as a way to contribute positively to the environment. She honed her planting design skills through her work at Rutgers Public Gardens.

Mackenzie holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey. Outside the office, she’s self-taught as a fiber artist who knits, crochets, and spins yarn.

Brian Paul
Studio Manager

  • Brian keeps everything running smoothly at Bayview. As Studio Manager, they play an important role in planning and operations, project budgeting systems, strategic decisions, and reporting on the financial performance of all projects.

They also support new software implementation to improve internal systems and free up time for the firm’s landscape architects to spend more time designing. Brian’s background in visual art supports brand strategy, while contributing to marketing and business development activities.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture & Digital Media from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. They were inspired by their coursework in landscape architecture, which led them to Bayview. When not at work, Brian enjoys sewing, tending to their houseplants, and working with new recipes.

Joseph Cogliandro Junior
Project Manager

  • Joseph thrives in translating clients’ wishlists for their outdoor spaces into designs that meld functionality with stewardship of the land and environment. His designs encourage people to linger and enjoy the outdoors. He works with clients throughout the process to help them envision the possibilities for their spaces, permit projects and ensure that construction runs smoothly.

Joseph was hooked on landscape architecture ever since high school when his class was tasked with redesigning the school’s courtyard. He holds a Masters of Landscape Architecture from The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, the City College of New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design, Policy, and Planning from Stony Brook University. When not at work, he is exploring the outdoors in search of different approaches to landscape design. When the weather keeps him inside he is either reading or watching the latest comic-film adaptation to see how it holds up to its source material.

Julia Walton
Landscape Designer

  • Julia is a landscape designer passionate about connecting and supporting people through thoughtful, purpose-driven design. Her overarching goal across projects is to enrich the lives of those who inhabit them through a greater connection to the natural world and each other. She has ample experience creating plans for large scale projects ranging from mixed-use developments, to master-planned communities, campuses, parks, and urban developments.

Julia's renderings and landscape design solutions for an immersive environment at the Universal Studios Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, were publicized in Dallas-area news articles and broadcast on local and regional news channels.

Julia holds a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from the University of Florida, and has lived and worked in Florida and Texas before calling New York home.  Julia loves planting design and learning about different species. In college, she worked to maintain several rare plant greenhouses in addition to teaching a class focused on identifying plants in the landscape throughout campus. Outside of the office, she loves to be active outdoors and to create paintings for family and friends.
